I agree with all of the responses posted here, but Hana you are amazing. Do you have any idea how students are acting in the states? Life might be easier and fun here, but not the moral of the people. So you can't judge the teachers are wrong. A child who is disciplined at school not with physical punishment will be disciplined every where. Don't tell me disciplin is wrong. So the teacher is of course the boss in the class and the students have to follow the classroom rules. The teacher is the parent as long as the student is in the classroom. What I am trying to say is the teacher has done the right thing and shouldn't be treated as a criminal.

in my opinion u didn't have the right to send him out of the class. you could have warned him, send him to the director or even talk with his parents.
if he is done with his work he has every right to do whatever he wants aslong as he's not involving others who havent done their work yet.
teachers in ethiopia want to be THE BOSS of students and it's not right.
if it was my child that you send oud of the class i would be pissed.

plus why would a student stand up greet the teacher??? they arent his parent.

i'm so happy that things have changed in ethiopia these days, couse in my time we student were treated like dogs by the teachers.

I'm not sure if your situation happened. Schools in America and schools in Ethiopia are completely different. I would be amazed if it's in Ethiopia. I can tell you from my personal experience. I came to the United States right after I finished 9th grade and continued Sophomore year in California. Oh Boy!! I remember that day like it was yestereday, it has been almost five years. The first period was Math, the kids were running around in the classroom and talking loud, cussing, eating and drinking...what a cultural shock. I don't think there is this kind of behaviors in Ethiopia. I can't say all but at least the one I had attened since Kindergarten. We really had a respect for our teachers. They were a good role models for us..I am here where I am right now because of them. Ya I don't deny all teachers are great, there are some exceptions always. Did you know that we spent most of our days in school with our beloved teachers than with our parents at home? So.. if we were not given a lesson or sometimes a punishment by our teachers, how do we know right from wrong? I just think being punished (Not Abused) is for our own benefit.
Finally I really want to say thank you for my teachers (Nazareth School Teachers) who were without a doubt a mentor, councelor...
